To Jaisalmer “The Golden City” By Train

Posted on

I’ve been to India several times and trip to Jaisalmer was the first time. There was “Jaisalmer Desert Festival” which held from 1-3 February 2015. And this event is annual festival. And I chose to come to this city by rail transport.

Train is the most popular transportation in India. And I am most happy to take the train in this country when a trip across town. In addition to cheap, many schedules and routes, safe, easy to interact with the other passengers so you could add new friends, and there are toilets for sure 🙂

In this trip I was with two female friends of mine, and we departed from Delhi station (Old Delhi) 17.00. Travel time is appropriate in the schedule is 17 hours and will arrive in Jaisalmer at 11.00. I choose this schedule in order to arrive at Jaisalmer in the  next morning and we could sleep in the train so that the trip will not be bored. I took a class 2A consisting of 4 beds in one cabin. The condition is not very good (do not imagine trains like in Europe, Japan or other western countries), but for me it was quite clean and available bedspreads, small pillow and a warm blanket. There is a plug for battery charger or phone as well.

For dinner, there are officers who offered food when we just take the train. It seems there are no special carriages restaurant where passengers can order food at any time. No other choice, we had to order food from the officers, and there is no menu option. Otherwise you will get hungry on the middle way 🙂 For 3 servings, I paid Rs510. Pretty cheap indeed 🙂

Cukup murah memang 🙂

Arrive at Jaisalmer station around 12 noon, late one hour ahead of schedule. The air was cold enough for me. No snow in Jaisalmer but the effect is very pronounced winter air. When in Jaisalmer on that time the temperatures average from 22C – 10C.

For me riding a train in India is a unique and memorable experience. And I will always use this transport when the trip to this country 🙂

Happy journey!

Waiting For The Bus @ Siem Reap

When you visit Angkor Wat , you will definitely be in town 🙂 Siem Reap town is becoming very popular in the world. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world.

I came to this city last year, in February 2013 . To reach this city, you can use the airplane as Siem Reap has an international airport . Or you can by road either from Vietnam or Thailand. Unfortunately if you use public transportation such as buses, a little bit inconvenient because the city does not have a dedicated bus terminal. I knew this because of my own experience, when I will go to Bangkok, Thailand by public bus .

I have already booked a bus ticket through the hotel at a price of US$13. The morning after taking care of check out, I was picked up by a van and it still had to pick up a few more people at different hotels. And finally the van stopped on the roadside . The driver said that the bus will come soon pick up. The minutes passed , the passengers began to arrive one by one and may have been around 40 people, but there was no sign of the bus will come. The sun started high and where there was no place to sit or a tree for shelter. People began to overheat and wonder because is past the appointed hour.

Well, finally the bus came and we were scrambling to get into the bus and it was unexpected that I was riding the bus is not like I was riding a bus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. An experience that certainly that will not be forgotten 🙂

What Kind of Traveler Are You?

Posted on Updated on

After you read this article you will know what kind of traveler are you 🙂
Happy reading and have a wonderful day!

The World As I See It

what kind of traveler are you I’ve been really trying to branch out lately and learn more about traveling, travel blogging and find my own path in the mass of travel bloggers out there.  I belong to a few travel groups on Facebook that I truly love and appreciate for all the help, information, inspiration and support they offer.  And I’ve noticed some travelers are judgemental about other travelers – as in this way is “true” travel, or that way in “not real” travel.  It got me thinking is there really a “true” way to travel and my conclusion is how can there be when there are so many different travelers out there!   What Kind of Traveler Are You?

Some like to get lost and enjoy no fixed plans, just go where their heart desires and stay in one place for how ever long they deem needed.

Some enjoy the planning, choosing of destinations and attractions, planning ahead for…
